Presentation of: Poterie de Nesmy
Since 1857, an artisan potters' workshop has flourished in the heart of Nesmy, perpetuating a tradition rooted in a heritage handed down from generation to generation since 1867.
It was in 1857 that Pierre Boisson, founder of the Poterie de Nesmy, moved from the hamlet of Le Château to La Vergne, a small village just 2 km from the centre of Nesmy, right next to the clay deposits. He chose to settle in the centre of the village, giving the pottery a new lease of life. After his death in 1867, his children handed over the workshop to Aimé Charpentreau, whose family continues to carry on this unique expertise today. In 2022, the fifth generation, represented by Sylvain and Raphaëlle Charpentreau, took over, ensuring the continued existence of this century-old workshop.
Today, Sylvain and Raphaëlle Charpentreau perpetuate this magnificent heritage with passion and respect, putting their talent at the service of the clay and honouring an exceptional tradition of craftsmanship.
